Privacy policy

Your personal records

Israa does not require an account. Prayer logs, fasting records, intentions, dhikr counts, bookmarks, automatically remembered reading position, reading progress, unfinished zakat drafts, explicitly saved zakat calculations, payment amounts and notes, location and preferences are stored in the app on your device. We do not operate a server that receives these records, and do not use them for advertising profiles. The app does not encrypt its local storage separately from your device's protection. On iPhone, your operating system's backup settings may include app data; Android app backup is disabled in this release.

Optional protected backups

You can create a password-encrypted backup of bookmarks, reading and worship progress, zakat drafts and saved calculation/payment records. You choose where to save or share that file. Israa does not upload it automatically or retain your password. Location, alarm preferences and the installation credential for shared quiz results are excluded. Importing requires the password and an explicit restore confirmation. Exported files remain wherever you save them, even after clearing Israa; delete them separately. We cannot recover a forgotten backup password.

Offline place search

Worldwide city search and coordinate time-zone lookup run on your device. Your phone’s location provider may use satellite, Wi-Fi and cellular signals, and its geocoding service may receive coordinates to provide a place name. Opening nearby mosque search or the location check in Google Maps shares your selected coordinates with Google.

Location and device permissions

Location is optional. If you choose “Use my location”, the app asks your phone or browser for a foreground location fix to calculate prayer times and qibla locally. Location is used while obtaining a fix and while the live compass is active. Israa does not track location in the background. Up to eight locations you explicitly confirm are saved on your device for quick switching. You can choose a saved city or enter coordinates instead. Choosing the nearby-mosques feature opens Google Maps with the selected location and coordinates; Google then handles that request under its own privacy policy.

Notifications are optional. Android full Adhan alarms additionally ask for Alarms & reminders access and use a visible playback notification with a Stop control. Prayer, forbidden-time, Quran, Hadith and good-deed alerts are scheduled locally on your device. An operating-system background task periodically renews the local alarm schedule and prayer-widget timetable using your saved location, without requesting background GPS. The phone controls whether and when this task runs. A local history retains up to 100 recent reminder records and distinguishes scheduled alerts from delivery that the app can observe. They do not use an advertising identifier or a remote push account. A short wake lock supports full Adhan playback. No microphone, camera, contacts or photo-library access is required.

Local weather

For your confirmed prayer location, Israa requests local weather while the app is in use. The device rounds coordinates to a 0.1-degree grid before sending them to Israa Digital’s Cloudflare service. That service obtains and caches forecasts from MET Norway and, where available, recent nearby weather-station reports from NOAA Aviation Weather Center. Exact GPS coordinates, worship records and quiz identifiers are not included. Cloudflare receives ordinary connection information including your IP address; the weather providers receive an approximate area and server request, not your device IP. The app and Android widgets keep a weather copy on your device. Widgets use this saved data without tracking GPS or polling weather in the background. Forecast data is credited to MET Norway under CC BY 4.0; station reports are credited to NOAA AWC. Provider and hosting security/logging policies apply.

Network requests and external links

Arabic Qur’an text, the bundled Adhan and selected HadeethEnc narrations in 12 languages are bundled locally. Hadith bookmarks, goals and progress remain on your device. The browser preview caches only the public narration files for offline reading. Qur’an translations download from Al Quran Cloud and are cached on your device. Qur’an recitations stream from Islamic Network, QuranicAudio / Quran.com, or EveryAyah, according to the selected recording. You can optionally download supported complete-surah recordings for offline playback and remove them in the Downloads screen. These providers receive ordinary network information such as your IP address, the requested translation or audio URL, and device network headers. Their server logging and retention follow their own policies. Israa does not attach your prayer records or location to these requests.

Source, learning, support, map and sponsor links open external services only when selected. Those services may use cookies or their own analytics. The public browser preview and this privacy page are hosted by Cloudflare, which receives ordinary web request information for hosting and security.

Pronunciation and Hadith speech

Automatic pronunciation spelling and reading-timing files are bundled locally. They do not send your reading history or text to an AI service. Hadith speech uses the Arabic text-to-speech voice configured on your device. Offline voices process it locally; a network voice may send the selected public Hadith text to its voice provider under that provider’s settings and policy. Israa does not attach your identity, location or worship records. No microphone is used.

Dua audio

Everyday dua audio is bundled with the app for offline playback. Twelve clips use a male Arabic synthetic voice generated during development and are labelled as AI-generated. One short clip uses an original male recitation, with its reader and publisher credited in About & licenses. Playback does not send text, recordings or personal data to an AI service, and no microphone access is used. Quranic duas use the Quran recordings described above.

Quizzes and optional community comparisons

Opening the quiz library checks for public question updates in your selected language through Cloudflare; ordinary connection information is received, but your answers and learning history are not attached. A saved copy works offline.

Quizzes, learning points and awards work locally without sharing results. Only when you select “Share result & compare” does Israa send the completed quiz’s answer choices, quiz version and a randomly generated installation code to Israa Digital’s service hosted on Cloudflare Workers. The service computes the score, discards the answer choices and stores a hashed installation code, the quiz and version, your best score and its update time in Cloudflare D1. It does not receive your name, email, prayer records, location or reading history. This optional feature is used only to compare quiz results, not for advertising.

Other participants receive aggregate counts, never your code or individual record. Rankings compare best scores on the same quiz version and require at least 20 other participating installations. Reinstallation or another device can count separately. Cloudflare receives normal connection information, including your IP address. The service uses it for transient rate limiting, does not store it in the scores database and has request-body logging disabled; Cloudflare’s own infrastructure and security practices apply.

Shared scores remain until you remove them. In quiz results or My awards, choose “Remove my shared quiz scores” to remove the live records associated with this installation. Clear local data also removes shared scores first and requires an internet connection if you participated. Keep the app installed until deletion succeeds, because the random code is needed to identify your records. Cloudflare backup retention follows its service policies.

Ask Israa

In this release Ask Israa searches a bundled reference collection on your device. Questions are held only for the current screen session and are not sent to an AI provider or saved in your worship records. Original references open only when selected. Live AI is not connected in this release; enabling it in a future release requires a separate opt-in and updated data disclosures.

Advertising

This release includes an area for manually reviewed sponsor cards. There is no automated advertising-network SDK, behavioural advertising, cross-app tracking, advertising-ID collection or sale of personal data. Sponsor cards do not appear in Qur’an reading, dhikr or full Adhan playback. Sponsor destinations receive a normal browser request if you choose to visit them. Any future change involving advertising data collection will require updated disclosures and this policy.

Retention and deletion

Personal records and cached translations remain until you remove them. Use Settings → Clear local data to delete Israa's records, downloaded audio and translation cache, or remove the application. Clearing app data also cancels its scheduled reminders and background renewal. Browser-preview data can be removed through browser site settings. Manage operating-system backups separately. We cannot recover local records that you delete.

Children and changes

Israa's current release is a general Muslim daily companion and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children's personal records on a server. We will update this page when the app's data practices change. Questions or concerns can be sent to the contact above.
